UNDERGROUND WAVE EVENTS

TWILIGHT RITUAL (abbreviated to "TWR" below) was founded in 1978.

The duo Peter Bonne and Geert Coppens quickly enjoyed worldwide recognition as a pioneer of the so-called Darkwave, thanks to the release on vinyl of the groundbreaking and influential Long Play "Rituals". But TWR was more of a project than a "band" and searched for alternative forms of beauty through various media (music, graphic design, video and text).

This principle has never been abandoned until now and it was therefore obvious that the organizers of the prestigious Ombra festival in Barcelona wanted the band on their bill.

ECHO WEST

ECHO WEST is an electronic project from Dortmund, which saw the light of day in 1994 with the express wish to give free rein to its own musical and sound ideas and received its final project name in 2000.

The project name ECHO WEST revolves around the vision that electronic music is a part of our western culture and that we - the consumers and the makers - participate in this culture both creatively and destructively. The music reflects personal experiences that are moulded into musical expressions by general and specific environmental influences.

The sound of ECHO WEST is already very minimal and idiosyncratic due to its
instrumentation, which consists of analogue synthesizers, vintage drum computers, effect devices and microphones.

The artistic commitment of Peter Bonne (Visionary producer and "father" of Belgian New Beat) and Geert Coppens (Writer and Video Artist) runs deep.

After all, TWR still has the intention to point out to its audience alternatives to the aggressive hyper-capitalism that threatens to extract all viability from the planet and its inhabitants.

TWR will headline São Paulo's Wave Festival in 2025. On June 21, 2024, Twilight Ritual will exceptionally also play in Antwerp.

The resulting sound creates an atmosphere that is often described as cold and melancholic. The musical genre it fits into is often described as 'angst pop'.

In terms of content, ECHO WEST deals with, among other things, the influence of the city on its inhabitants and the resulting social and emotional dark sides of humanity, as well as existentialist questions and fantasies.

Musically, ECHO WEST is generally influenced by the 80s neon industrial underground scene, especially bands like A Blaze Colour, Klinik, Vomito Negro, Blackhouse, Dark Day, League Of Nations, Ceramic Hello, Skinny Puppy, SPK, to name but a few.
